Comparing Daily Homepage Views with 4-Week Average in Mixpanel

·
·

I am interested in creating a report which compares a data element from the previous day (ie. Homepage Views) to an average of the 4 previous weeks of that same day. For example, if yesterday was Monday, I would want to see a report which showed Monday’s Homepage traffic as compared to an average of last Monday, plus two weeks ago Monday, plus 3 weeks ago Monday plus four weeks ago Monday, averaged out. Can that calculation be done in Mixpanel? If so, how? Please advise.

Avi S. It can be done. When filtering for an event, use time, and in that day of week should be Monday. your overall report timeline should be last 3 weeks ending 1 week ago (so you avoid current week). Does this help??

Can you expand upon the instructions or point me to the right place to read more. I have an existing report created which compares the values to the values from the previous week and I would like to modify the second value to an average of the 4 previous weeks on that day of the week?

Avi S. I dived deeper into Mixpanel to try building this out - but seems like it's not possible

Disappointed to hear that - that should be doable. I wonder if the Mixpanel Product folks have a solution?

Hi Avi- Julianne from Mixpanel Support here. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm afraid that this would be a product gap on our side. At the moment there is no way to generate a report that compares to the past across an average of times. I'm sorry for this inconvenience. I've gone ahead and filed a feature request internally- this will allow the Product Team to evaluate this feature's development for future Mixpanel releases.
