Troubleshooting Mixpanel: Unregistered Signup Events in Web System

·
·

Hi, I have an event called "Signup" implemented to track all new accounts in my web system. Currently, I also have a backoffice where I manage all new accounts for my users (Account info like suscription info, payments, active users, etc...). A very strange error is happening in Mixpanel, randomly the "Signup" event is not registered, therefore, at the end of the month when I check the number of new accounts in my Backoffice and Mixpanel report, they do not match. This is super strange, because it is the only event with which I have this problem. Any ideas how to resolve this issue? Signup event implementation

Hi Bryan, My name's Scott and I'm a Support Engineer at Mixpanel. Thanks for writing in — happy to take a look at this. Diving right in, I see that these events are coming from the JavaScript library (if I'm looking at the right project). With that in mind, the most likely explanation is that some users have an ad-blocking extension in their browser, or enabled on the Internet router, that is preventing the Mixpanel library from fully functioning. I wish I could give you an estimate of what percent of traffic could be affected by this, but there are many factors at play. We do recommend tracking server-side tracking as much as possible and supplementing with client-side tracking as needed, due to the unreliable nature of client-side tracking, but I understand this isn't always possible. That said, I would be happy to take a closer look. Can you please share a link to the report in your Mixpanel project that you're using to identify these missing 'Sign Up' events? And, since you mention having a backend where the records are more complete, do you have an example or two of users whose signup events weren't captured? Thanks, Bryan! I look forward to your reply.
