Hey team! Having a weird issue with our Mixpanel free plan. We're getting the "temporarily disabled report access" banner (likely hit the 1M event limit), but here's the strange part:
In the Events tab: I can see that 2 users triggered [specific event name] 3 days ago (September 2, 2025)
In my report: I filtered for the same event within the last 30 days, those 2 users do not appear in the results
Does this mean when exceeding 1 million events in Free plan, events are still being tracked, but reports seem frozen with old data? Trying to figure out if this is expected behavior or if we're losing analytics data permanently.
Hi Daran- Julianne from Mixpanel Support here! When you exceed the 1 million event limit on the Free Plan in a month, your access to Mixpanel reports will be temporarily blocked for the rest of that month. However, your data will continue to be ingested and will be accessible once a new month begins or if you upgrade to a paid plan. This means you aren't losing analytics data permanently. The expected behavior once you're blocked would be to not be able to access any report to query the data, so it may be a bug if you are able to create a report here at all.
Julianne B. Thanks Julianne! Just to confirm my understanding: So we can still track new events even after hitting 1M, and see them in the Events menu, but reports get frozen? I can access reports now (which might be a bug), but the data inside is outdated, right?
Correct- you can still track new events, and they will continue to be ingested into the project. I can't say for sure if the report is frozen, since it sounds like a bug that you are able to access it at all. If you want confirmation, can you submit a ticket via our web form with a link to the report? This will let someone troubleshoot your specific project and report.
