You can merge the two events directly in Lexicon. This combines them at the logical level without modifying raw data, and without needing a custom event.
Steps to merge events in Lexicon:
- 1.
Navigate to Lexicon in your Mixpanel project.
- 2.
Select both events you want to combine.
- 3.
Click the Merge icon that appears.
- 4.
In the "MERGE SELECTED EVENTS INTO…" section, choose which event name should be the canonical (primary) one going forward.
- 5.
Click Merge. The merged event will appear with a "Merged" status.
After merging, Mixpanel will recognize both event names as a single event in all reports — no need to select them individually. [Lexicon Merging Data]
A few important notes:
After merging, update all future tracking to use the canonical event name going forward. [Govern Data]
Any reports that previously referenced either event should be updated to reference the new merged event to maintain accuracy. [Lexicon Merging Data]
