Hi everyone,
Hi everyone, I'm trying to calculate the average time users spend on a specific screen in my project, but I'm facing some tracking limitations and UI hurdles. My context & limitations: My event tagging is currently incomplete, meaning I don't have a reliable Screen Name or Page Name property consistently attached to all events. To isolate the user's presence on this specific screen, I created a Custom Event that groups several distinct actions (button clicks, scrolls) that only happen on that screen. What I've tried so far (and where I got stuck):
- 1.
Funnels (Time to Convert): I tried setting my Custom Event as Step 1. I wanted to set Step 2 as "Any Event" to measure the time it takes before the user does absolutely anything else. However, the "Any Event" option does not appear in my event dropdown for Step 2.
- 2.
Insights (Session Duration): I tried looking at the Session Duration (seconds) aggregate property. However, I couldn't find a way in the interface to filter the metric so it only calculates the average for sessions that include my Custom Event (e.g., I couldn't find an "Events in Session" filter).
My questions:
Is there a reason "Any Event" might be hidden/unavailable in the Funnels report, and what is the best workaround to act as an exit trigger for Step 2?
Alternatively, how exactly can I filter the Session Duration in the Insights report to strictly include sessions where my Custom Event was triggered?
Thanks in advance for any workarounds or guidance!
