kapa.ai I ingested a new event via the API. While I can see this event appearing in my reports, it does not show up in Lexicon. Why might this be happening?

There are a few reasons why a newly ingested event might appear in your Mixpanel reports but not show up in Lexicon: 1. Lexicon UI Only Shows Recent or Described Events: The Lexicon UI displays events that either have an associated schema (e.g., have been described, tagged, or otherwise modified in Lexicon) or have been sent to your project in the last 30 days. If your event does not meet either of these criteria, it may not appear in Lexicon. However, if you can see the event in reports, it should have been sent recently, so this is less likely unless there is a delay or data volume issue Lexicon Schemas API.2. Hidden or Inactive Events: If the event was hidden in Lexicon, it will not appear in the Lexicon UI by default. Also, events that have not been fired in the last 30 days are hidden from dropdown menus and Lexicon, unless they have been modified in Lexicon (e.g., by adding a description or tag). You can try searching for the event by name in the Lexicon or event dropdowns, and ensure you have the "Show Hidden Events" option enabled Check for Hidden Events and Properties.3. Event Approval (Enterprise Feature): If your project has Event Approval enabled, new events are hidden by default until an admin reviews and marks them as visible. In this case, the event will not appear in Lexicon until it is approved by an admin Event Approval.4. API vs. UI Differences: If you are using the Lexicon Schemas API to retrieve events, note that it only returns events with associated schemas. The Lexicon UI may show more events than the API, as it also includes events sent in the last 30 days even if they do not have a schema Lexicon Schemas API.What you can do: - Check if the event is hidden or inactive in Lexicon. - If using Event Approval, ask an admin to review and approve the event. - Try searching for the event by its exact name in Lexicon. - If you need a complete export, use the CSV export from the Lexicon UI, which includes all entities visible in the UI Lexicon Schemas API.If none of these resolve the issue, there may be a delay or a project-specific configuration affecting Lexicon visibility.

kapa.ai It's an older event so maybe that's why it's not shown in the Lexicon UI. I want to merge this event, but since its not shown in the Lexicon UI, how can I merge it?
Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! 📚
If your event is older than 30 days and is not shown in the Lexicon UI, you will not be able to merge it directly, as Lexicon only displays events that have been sent in the last 30 days or have been modified in Lexicon (e.g., by adding a description, hiding, tagging, etc.) Check for Hidden Events and Properties. To make the event appear in Lexicon so you can merge it, you can "resurface" it by firing a single instance of that event. Once the event has been ingested again, it should show up in the Lexicon UI, allowing you to select and merge it as needed Check for Hidden Events and Properties. If you know the exact name of the event, you can also try searching for it in the Lexicon or event dropdown menu, as sometimes events can be found this way even if they are not listed by default. However, firing the event again is the most reliable way to make it available for merging. If you are unable to fire the event again, the knowledge sources do not provide an alternative method for merging events that are not visible in the Lexicon UI.

kapa.ai How can I add description for an event via uploading a csv file?
Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! 📚
You can add a description for an event in Mixpanel by exporting your Lexicon data as a CSV, editing the description in the CSV file, and then importing it back into Lexicon. Here’s how you can do it: 1. Export Lexicon Data: In the Lexicon UI, click the Export button to receive a CSV file via email. This CSV will contain your events and their current metadata, including the description field.2. Edit the CSV: Open the CSV file, find the event you want to update, and add or modify the description in the appropriate column.3. Import the CSV Back: After making your changes, import the CSV back into Lexicon using the Import function. During import, Mixpanel will update the event descriptions and other metadata for matching event names.
Event and property descriptions and metadata (hidden, dropped, sensitive, etc) that are already in Lexicon will be overwritten by descriptions and metadata for matching event and property names. By default, any event and property descriptions for events that are not imported will remain unchanged unless you check the option to overwrite your entire data dictionary during import. Export and Import Lexicon DataThis process allows you to efficiently update event descriptions (and other metadata) in bulk using a CSV file.
