I have a spike of unwanted events in the last days, that goes over my yearly plan of number of events. If I delete that event, the number of events will revert to the number without the spike

You’re asking about billing, so the key is how deletions affect the current month’s billable event tally, not past months. From the docs: - When billing runs for the current month, events you delete will not be included in the tally for that current month. [Data clean-up FAQ] - This means if the spike happened this month and you use Data Deletion to remove those events, your current month’s counted events will go down accordingly. [Data clean-up FAQ]However: - The docs do not describe a “yearly plan counter” that is retroactively recomputed after deletions; they only state behavior for the current month’s billing run. [Data clean-up FAQ; Pricing FAQs] - So I cannot confirm from the sources that a yearly aggregate you already exceeded will be “reset” or “reverted” by deleting those events; the documentation only guarantees that deleted events are excluded from the current month’s billing calculation. If this spike is large enough to affect an annual commitment or contract-level limit, the safest next step is to contact your Mixpanel account manager or Support so they can confirm how your specific yearly plan handles deletions in practice.

To stop an event from being ingested going forward, you should drop the event in Lexicon: 1. Go to Lexicon in your Mixpanel project. 2. Find the event you want to stop. 3. Select it, then click the Drop icon. 4. Confirm the warning. After this, no new data for that event will be stored; past data will still remain visible. [Dropping data]Note: It can take a few hours for Mixpanel to fully process the dropped event. [Dropping data]
