Why Do Google Event Numbers Change Over Time?

I found the event number yesterday can change over time. for example, today morning I found the 12/8 google total event number: 69-71-69 Why the number past may change ?

Emily W. This shouldn't be a frequent thing. Can happen sometimes due to Mixpanel at their backend.

I've asked the consultant she said it's because of the ID merge, which may process for almost 24 hours, so the event number may change. I wondered is the reason why it happened ?
