How to Get Period-to-Date Comparisons for Specific Dates in Mixpanel?

Is there a way to get period to date comparisons in Mixpanel? Mixpanel will show the current month as an incomplete month which is helpful but what I want is to see how a metric on April 20th compares to the same metric on March 20th* *acknowledging some calendar wonkiness when months are different lengths or leap years yadda yadda.

Hey Matt! Period comparisons are supported in Mixpanel's core reports through the compare feature. The "Compare to Previous Month" addition will show data for the selected date and for the date 1 month previous to it. If you have any questions specific to your project, please submit a Support Ticket and we can take a closer look 🙂

Thanks. Can you confirm that the comparison is period to date? My understanding from the documentation is that it will compare the current month to the entirety of the previous month meaning comparisons in the beginning of the month will look lopsided.

The comparison period automatically matches the length of the current date range selected — it does not compare to the entirety of the previous month. So the behavior depends on what date range you have set:
If you are viewing "Month to Date" (e.g., April 1–20), the comparison window will be the same 20-day length, ending on the equivalent point in the previous period, not the full previous month
This means April 1–20 using compare previous month would be against March 1–20
