I want to compare different retention rates from signup to a key event. I want to compare the retention week to week across different months for 6 months. What report and how should I configure it?

To compare different retention rates from signup to a key event across different months for 6 months, you should use Mixpanel's Retention report. Here's how you can configure it: 1. Use the Retention report: Start by opening the Retention report in Mixpanel.2. Define your Retention Behavior: - Set "Sign Up Completed" (or your specific signup event) as the first event. - Set your key event as the second event.3. Choose your Measurement: Select "Retention Rate" as the measurement type.4. Set the Time Range: Set the date range to cover the 6-month period you want to analyze.5. Configure Retention Criteria: - Set the time unit to "Week" under the Retention Criteria. - Use "Calendar Retention Mode" to align retention calculation with calendar-defined time windows. This will help you compare week-to-week retention across different months.6. Visualize the Data: Choose the "Line" visualization to see how your retention rate is trending over time for each week. Here's why this configuration works for your needs: 1. The Calendar Retention Mode allows you to compare retention on a strict week basis across different months. As explained in the Mixpanel documentation: "This aligns the retention calculation so that all users entering within a time bucket get calculated together."2. The Line visualization will show you how the retention rate for each week is trending over the 6-month period. According to the Mixpanel documentation: "You can see how your retention rate or number of users retained is trending. You can see this trend for any of the retention time unit buckets."3. By setting the first event as signup and the second as your key event, you're measuring exactly what you've described - retention from signup to the key event. This configuration will allow you to compare week-to-week retention rates across different months for the 6-month period, giving you insights into how your user retention is changing over time.
