How can I compare first week growth with first week of previous month?

To compare your growth from the first week of the current month against the first week of the previous month, you can use Mixpanel's Compare to Past feature with a custom time range.
Using "Compare to Past" in Insights
1. Select your Metric: In an Insights report, define the metric you want to track (e.g., Total Events or Unique Users) [Insights Overview]. 2. Set the Date Range: Click the date range selector and choose Custom -> Fixed. Select the first week of the current month [Date Range]. 3. Enable Comparison: Click the Compare to past button at the top of the graph. 4. Custom Comparison: Select Custom from the comparison menu and choose the dates corresponding to the first week of the previous month [Compare to Past]. 5. View Lift: To see the growth as a percentage, select the Percent Change over Baseline option. This will display the "lift" of your current week's performance relative to the previous month's first week [Comparisons Overview].
Alternative: Metric Trees
If you are using Metric Trees, you can configure individual metric cards to show specific time comparisons such as Month-over-Month (MoM). Each card can display the absolute value for the selected period alongside the percentage lift compared to the prior period [Metric Tree Time Comparisons].
Automated Monitoring
If you want to be notified when these growth metrics change significantly, you can set up Custom Alerts. These can trigger Slack or email notifications when a metric crosses a specific threshold or increases/decreases by a certain percentage [Custom Alerts; Growth KPIs].

To set up a custom alert in Mixpanel, you must first have a saved report (Insights or Funnels) for the metric you want to monitor. Alerts are available on paid plans (Growth and Enterprise) [Alerts Overview].
Steps to Create a Custom Alert
1. Save your report: Ensure your report is saved, as you cannot create alerts on reports with unsaved changes [Create an Alert]. 2. Open the Alert Modal: Click the three dots icon (...) in the top right corner of the report, select Alerts, and then Create Alert [Create an Alert; Anomaly Detection Demo]. 3. Configure Alert Details: ** Name: Give your alert a descriptive name. ** Select Metric: If your report has multiple events or segments, choose the specific one you want to track [Create an Alert]. 4. Set Alert Criteria: Choose a Custom Threshold to define when you should be notified. Options include: ** Above/Below: Triggers when the value crosses a specific number. ** Increases/Decreases by more than: Triggers based on a percentage or absolute change compared to the previous interval (e.g., week-over-week) [Alert Criteria Types; Custom Alerts Video]. 5. Set Frequency: Choose how often Mixpanel should notify you (e.g., hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly) [Create an Alert]. 6. Choose Delivery Method: Select Email or Slack. For Slack, you may need to authorize the Mixpanel Slack app first [Slack Integration; Create an Alert].
Managing Alerts
To view, edit, or delete your existing alerts, navigate to Personal Settings by clicking the gear icon in the top right, then select the Alerts tab [View & Manage Alerts].Note: If you are on an Enterprise plan, you also have the option to use , which uses machine learning to automatically calculate thresholds based on historical data [Anomaly Detection].
