how do I filter out $other from coming through in a funnel report which has a breakdown applied?
The knowledge sources mention that when breaking down a Funnel by a property, only the top 200 property values are returned, and all other segments are grouped into an $other category. [Funnels FAQ]
However, the knowledge sources do not explicitly describe a built-in way to filter out the $other segment directly within the Funnels report UI.
Here are a couple of approaches that may help based on what the knowledge sources do cover:
Export to CSV: If you need to see beyond the 200-segment limit (which is what causes $other), you can export the report as a CSV, which contains up to 10,000 segments. [Funnels FAQ]
Use an inline filter on the breakdown property: You can add an inline filter to your funnel steps to restrict the property values being analyzed to only the specific values you care about. This would reduce the number of segments and potentially eliminate or reduce the $other bucket. [Funnels Advanced]
Use a global filter with "is set": You can apply a global filter ensuring the breakdown property "is set," which would exclude (not set) values, though this may not directly remove $other. [Filters]
Beyond these options, the knowledge sources don't provide a direct method to explicitly exclude the $other segment from the funnel breakdown visualization. I'd recommend reaching out to Mixpanel Support for more specific guidance on this use case.
