Hi 👋 In Insights, when I break down by companyName, is there a way to automatically show Top N (e.g., Top 5 companies) instead of manually selecting them? Thanks! 🙏
Yes, in Mixpanel Insights, when you break down by a property like companyName, the UI will automatically display the top N segments (e.g., top 5 companies) by default—there’s no need to manually select them. The default number of segments shown depends on the visualization type (e.g., 12 for tables and bar charts, 12 for line and pie charts), but you can adjust the number of segments displayed using the “View N” control. The top segments are determined by the metric value (such as total event count or unique users), so you’ll see the most significant companies automatically at the top of your breakdown. If you want to see a different number of top companies, you can change the “View N” setting to show more or fewer segments. Sorting options also let you control whether you see the top or bottom segments by value or alphabetically. If your breakdown has more segments than the visible limit, only the top N (by value) will be shown in the UI, and you’ll see a banner if results are being truncated. For larger exports, CSV downloads allow for higher limits. So, to summarize: Mixpanel Insights automatically shows the top N segments when you break down by a property like companyName, and you can adjust how many are shown using the UI controls—no manual selection is required for the top companies to appear in your report.
