Can I create a cohort of users based on their time spent on a page? I am unable to find duration in the cohort creation
Hi Mika K., Please stand by as I search the Mixpanel knowledge base for an AI-powered answer. I normally take about 15 seconds or so. You can create cohorts in Mixpanel based on a wide range of user behaviors and properties, including event counts and profile properties. However, the knowledge sources do not explicitly mention the ability to directly use "duration" (such as time spent on a specific page) as a filter in the cohort builder interface. That said, Mixpanel does compute a "Session Duration (seconds)" property for sessions, which measures the time between Session Start and Session End events. This property is available in session-based reports and can be used to analyze session lengths, break down users by session duration, and even view users who spent a certain amount of time in a session. For example, you can segment users who had sessions longer than a certain threshold and then use "View Users" to see those users and save them as a cohort from within a report like Insights or Flows. This is an indirect way to create a cohort based on time spent, but it is at the session level, not specifically per page view Sessions: Use Cases. If you want to create a cohort based on time spent on a specific page, the knowledge sources do not confirm that this is possible directly in the cohort builder. You may need to use session or event properties in your reports, segment users accordingly, and then save those users as a cohort via the "View Users" feature View Users. In summary: - You can create cohorts based on session duration using session properties in reports, then save those users as a cohort. - There is no explicit support for filtering by "duration" at the page level directly in the cohort builder, according to the available documentation. If you need more granular page-level duration, you may need to implement custom event tracking to capture time spent per page and use that as a property for cohort creation, but this is not detailed in the provided knowledge sources.
