Issue with Filtering Events by app_name df in Mixpanel Reports

Subject: Can’t filter events by app_name = "df"—value missing from filter list Hi Mixpanel Support Team, We’ve run into an issue with one of our server‑side properties:

  • What we’re doing

  • – We send server events that include the custom property app_name with possible values "df" or "dfw".

  • – In Events → Live View, both values appear correctly in the incoming event stream.

  • Issue

  • When we try to filter events by app_name in any report (e.g., Events → Explore, Funnels), the dropdown only shows "dfw". "df" never appears, so we can’t create reports just for that subset of users.

Could you help us understand why "df" isn’t indexed in the filter value list and advise on how to resolve this? Let us know if you need additional logs or access—we’ll provide them right away. Thanks in advance!

I understand your frustration with the missing filter value. Based on the information you've provided, there are a few possible explanations for why "df" isn't appearing in your filter dropdown while "dfw" is.

    Possible Causes

    1. Inactive Properties: Mixpanel automatically hides property values that haven't been sent to your project in the last 28 days from dropdown menus. If "df" hasn't been used recently, it might be hidden for this reason. As mentioned in the documentation: "Event properties and property values that have not been sent to your project in 28 days are hidden from dropdown menus." Lexicon: Hiding Data2. Hidden Status: The property value might have been manually hidden in Lexicon.3. Dropdown Limitations: The dropdown menus only show events/event properties that were ingested within the last 30 days, as noted in the documentation: "The drop-down menus only show events/event properties that were ingested within the last 30 days." Query Builder Features

    Solutions

    1. Manually Type the Value: You can still use "df" even if it doesn't appear in the dropdown. As the documentation states: "To select events/event properties that have not been ingested in the last 30 days, type the name of the event/event property in the Filter or Breakdown search bar." Query Builder Features2. Check Lexicon: Verify if the property value has been hidden: - Go to Data Management > Lexicon - Look for your "app_name" property - Check if "df" has been hidden or has a different status than "dfw" - If hidden, you can unhide it by selecting it and clicking "Unhide"3. Show Hidden Properties: When searching in the filter dropdown, click "Show Hidden Events/Properties" to reveal any hidden values.4. Verify Recent Data: Ensure that events with "app_name=df" have been sent recently (within the last 28 days) to keep them active in the dropdown. If you've tried these solutions and still can't see "df" in your filters, it might be worth checking if there are any data classification or data view settings that could be affecting visibility of certain property values.Let me know if any of these solutions help resolve your issue!
