My product has a funnel with steps A -> B ->C ->D ->E. Let's say I create a funnel report with a comparison like this: A ->B->C & E. Is it possible that the conversion for E is also counting those who did C?
When you create a funnel report in Mixpanel and use the "comparison events" feature—such as setting up a funnel with steps A → B → C & E—Mixpanel will compute a segmented funnel that shows what percent of users reached each of these comparison events. This means that at the step where you have both C and E as comparison events, Mixpanel will show the conversion rates for users who reached C and for those who reached E, as separate segments. However, the knowledge sources do not explicitly state whether the conversion for E will also include those who did C, or if they are mutually exclusive. Typically, in funnel analysis, if a user reaches both C and E, they may be counted in both segments unless the tool specifically de-duplicates or separates the paths. But since the documentation does not clarify this behavior for comparison events, I cannot confirm with certainty how Mixpanel handles users who complete both C and E at that step. For more details on how to set up and interpret comparison events, see the documentation here: Funnels Advanced Concepts: Comparison Events. If you need to ensure that users are only counted in one segment (e.g., only those who did E and not C), you may need to use exclusion steps or cohorts, but this is not directly addressed in the context of comparison events in the provided sources.
