I have a board with a date filter of "since X". I have an insight on that board for "total sessions" (which is total sessions since X). I want to also have an insight for the total sessions "year to date". When I save the insight and then go back to the board, it shows it as "since X" even though I had saved it as "year to date". How can I have a year to date insight on a board with a filter for a longer period of time?

You’re running into how board-wide date ranges work: they override the report’s own date range when viewed on the board.Boards apply a board-wide date range on top of each report, without changing the saved query itself. When you open the report directly, it uses its own saved date range (e.g. “Year to Date”), but on the board it’s re-run with the board’s date range (your “Since X”).[Board date ranges]To keep a true “Year to Date” metric on a board that also has a longer “Since X” view, you have two options: 1. Don’t apply a board-wide date range - Set the board date range to Default so each card uses its own saved date range.[Board date ranges] - Then: - Save one Insight as Since X. - Save another Insight as Year to Date. - Both will show their own ranges on the same board.2. Use board-wide filters only (no board-wide date range) - Apply filters (e.g. properties) at the board level, but leave the date range as Default so it doesn’t override the reports’ own date ranges.[Board date ranges]With the current product behavior in the docs, there isn’t a way to have a board-wide “Since X” date range and simultaneously have a single card on that board show “Year to Date” — the board date range will always win when viewing on the board.

Let me check the knowledge base for you again. One moment! 📚
The knowledge sources don’t explicitly say whether public board viewers (people without a Mixpanel login) can change filters like date range on a Public Board. What is documented: - Public Boards let you share a board via a public link with people who don’t have a Mixpanel login; they see the board in the context of the Data View used when the link was created.[Public boards] - For regular (non‑public) boards inside Mixpanel, viewers can interact with board‑level date ranges and filters to explore data; these changes are temporary and don’t alter the saved queries.[Board date ranges]However, the docs do not state whether that same interactive filtering UI (e.g., changing date range) is available to anonymous public viewers of a Public Board. Because this isn’t specified, I can’t confidently say “yes” or “no” based on the provided sources. So, based only on the current documentation: - Public Boards definitely support viewing the board as configured by the creator. - Whether a public visitor can modify filters (like date range) is not clearly documented in these sources.
