Did a recent update change the way Public Boards work? We’ve been sharing a public board with some customers for the past few months but heard today they were asked to create a mixpanel account in order to view the board. They used to just be able to click the shared board link and view the data

The knowledge sources do not mention any recent change that would require viewers of a Public Board to create a Mixpanel account. Public Boards are explicitly described as a way to share analyses “with stakeholders outside your company — regardless of whether your teammates have a Mixpanel login or not,” including investors, agencies, customers, or even posting publicly. [Public boards]From the docs, a few things could cause what you’re seeing, even without a product change: 1. Public Boards disabled at the project level - Public Boards are disabled by default and can be turned off in Project Settings by a Project Owner. Disabling the feature “will turn off ALL currently publicly shared boards and will disallow the creation of any new ones.” [Public boards] - If this was recently disabled, existing public links would stop working as anonymous links, and users might be redirected to a login page.2. The board is no longer public / link changed - Public links are created from the Board’s Share modal. If someone removed the public link or changed sharing so it’s no longer public, recipients would again be prompted to log in. [Public boards]3. Data View context - Public Board links are created “with the context of the Data View in which the link is generated.” [Public boards] - If the Data View or its access changed, it might affect what external viewers see, though the docs don’t explicitly say this would force login.Because the docs don’t describe any recent behavior change, I’d suggest: - Ask a Project Owner to go to Project Settings → Public Boards and confirm: - The Public Boards feature is still enabled for the project. - The specific board still appears in the list with an active public link. [Public boards] - On the board itself, open Share → Public Board Details and: - Confirm the board is still set to Make Public. - Copy the current public URL and test it in an incognito/private browser window (not logged into Mixpanel). If all of that looks correct and the link still forces login, the issue is not covered in the available documentation; in that case, you’ll likely need to contact Mixpanel Support with the specific board URL and project details.

Yes, apparently there is a bug in mixpanel that’s causing this issue. It’s still broken for me though
