hi, is there a way to get insights on events that happened in between 2 events. For example, i need to know if users did a certain action during their trial period which can be marked by Event A: signed_up, and Event B: trial_ended_page. Is there a way to see this as insights instead of the flow report? My goal is to understand if certain user events happening between the marker events A and B correlate to the user conversion

Yes, Mixpanel provides ways to analyze whether certain events occurred between two marker events (e.g., between "signed_up" and "trial_ended_page"), and to understand if these intermediate actions correlate with conversion.
1. Funnels with Exclusion Steps
You can use a funnel report to define a sequence from Event A ("signed_up") to Event B ("trial_ended_page"). While funnels primarily measure conversion rates between steps, you can also use exclusion steps to exclude users who did or did not perform a specific event between these two steps. This allows you to see how the presence or absence of an intermediate event affects conversion rates. However, this approach is more about exclusion than direct correlation analysis, and is not as flexible for exploring all possible intermediate actions at once. For more details, see the section on exclusion steps in funnels: Exclusion Steps (Exclude users who did…)
2. Signal Report for Correlation Analysis
For your specific goal—understanding if certain user events happening between A and B correlate to conversion—Mixpanel’s Signal report is the most relevant tool. Signal quantifies the correlation between a "correlation event" (e.g., a specific action during the trial) and a "goal event" (e.g., conversion or trial end). You can use Signal to see if performing a certain event during the trial period is associated with higher conversion rates. Signal: Quantify correlation between two events- You would set your goal event as "trial_ended_page" or your conversion event. - Add the events you suspect might influence conversion as correlation events. - Signal will show you the strength of the association and provide actionable insights.
3. Flows Report (for Path Analysis)
While you asked for alternatives to Flows, it’s worth noting that Flows is designed to visualize the actual paths users take between two events, including all intermediate actions. This is useful for exploratory analysis, but not for direct correlation measurement.---Summary: - Use Funnels with exclusion steps to see how doing or not doing an event between A and B affects conversion. - Use the Signal report to directly measure the correlation between intermediate events and conversion. - Flows is best for path visualization, but not for direct correlation insights. If you need to analyze correlation (not just sequence), Signal is your best option in Mixpanel for this use case.
