Hey Baffour A.! Thanks for the congrats and thanks for the great question!
tl;dr: The product design system is always evolving and so is the brand one. Their use cases are different, but this update helps us build them better, together.
We’ve got a fairly robust product design system (but it can always be better!) and now we’ve got a strong brand language system ready to use (Which I’m very excited about!).
To answer a bit more specifically:
🎨 Colors from the brand system are actually rooted in the product one. Purple, Lava, Mint, and Mustard are our first four categorical colors in all charts, we now have more range available for brand use.
🔤 Typography for the interface itself, our brand type is a bit too expressive, so the UI typography is remaining the clean, sharp, and versatile Aperçu. When there are moments to express things with typography, you might see our brand typography show up, though!
🖼️ Illustrations: We spent a lot of time making sure we could get those right for the way we want people to feel. When there are moments to use them, you might see them, but it won’t become some overbearing or wildly distracting thing interrupting your workflow.
I’m sure you’ll see more brand moments within the product, as one of the reasons we worked on this brand update was to have better means and tools for communicating how things work, or better explaining and expressing the qualities of a new feature being released.
A lot of the hard work in this brand evolution was developing the language and tools. Now that it’s out in the world, it’s time for us to start building and speaking with it, and for me at least that’s the exciting part!
If you’ve got more question feel free to ask, I’m happy to answer!
