Impact of User Property Changes on Insight Reports Explained

If user properties changes over time, how do insight reports affect that? For example:

When I breakdown an insights report with user_type will that user for their January click show user_type=free or show user_type=tier1?

User properties are not reflective of history. If free becomes tier1 then everything you look at for that user will reflect tier1. UNLESS you write the user_type as a property into an event when tracking that event. Then you can query the event property and see what was a free user doing something vs a tier1 user
