The differences in user counts that you're seeing from different report setups is due to the way those metrics are calculated.
1. When you break down by month and select "Unique Users", the report counts the number of unique users who performed the event within that specific month.
2. The "MAU" metric, on the other hand, counts the number of unique users who performed the event within the last 30 days (rolling).
3. Unlike the line chart which counts users for each month separately and then takes the average of those counts (which means users can be counted multiple times), the metric chart counts unique users across the entire time period, so each user is only counted once even if they appear in multiple months.
For the reasons above, you'll see slight differences in the figures - the calculations are different. If you want to get the most accurate MAU numbers, I would recommend using the MAU metric as it provides a rolling 30-day count of unique users. :)
