Hi team, I’m trying to understand how conversion counts are being calculated for the conversion rate unique and conversion rate(total) if I enabled the Optimized Reentry ?
Let’s say I have a two different events;
transaction_started
transaction_completed
and let’s say there is an 10 transaction started event within 1 day conversion window and 3 transaction_completed event within the same time frame. Could you please calculate followings?
what is the conversion if I want it unique conversion and optimized reentry enabled ?
what is the conversion if I want it unique conversion and optimized reentry disabled ?
what is the conversion if I want it total conversion and optimized reentry enabled ?
what is the conversion if I want it total conversion and optimized reentry disabled ?
Optimized recently has to do with the way that under regular calculations (optimized off) a user who does a flow but leaves and maybe comes back part way through a flow would not be counted. Optimized will include them. So it is my experience that flows often undercount total conversions (when comparing to my back end data) and optimized gets closer to what my back end shows
That’s why I asked, isn’t total conversion also cover new entries to the flow ? If so why do we have a feature as optimized ?
It does but sometimes people come in and out of a flow in a way that would cause the standard calculation to not count them. https://docs.mixpanel.com/docs/reports/funnels/funnels-advanced#optimized-re-entry
I found this video very helpful when they launched it back in April. https://www.loom.com/share/a3a6c641dc9d4eb8851d066c010c6c1a?t=4
Thanks a lot for your time Andrew ✋
