Clarification on Free Plan Usage Limits and Error Handling

Hello everyone, I’m currently using the Free plan. I’d like to ask: if I exceed the usage limit within a month, what will happen? If I continue calling the methods, will any errors occur? Do I need to handle any errors in my app? I’d really appreciate your support and clarification. Thank you very much!

Hi Tĩnh! Julianne from Mixpanel Support here. If you exceed the usage limit on the Free plan, you will be blocked from accessing Mixpanel for the rest of that month. However, data will continue to be ingested and will be accessible once a new month begins. Exceeding the usage limit won't cause any errors in your app's functionality or in the methods you're calling. The limitation is on the Mixpanel side, so it won't disrupt your app's operations. If you find that you're consistently exceeding the usage limit, you might want to consider adjusting your event volumes to align with this limit or moving to a different plan.
