In Mixpanel, the "Overall" calculation depends on the measurement type you're using in your report. By default, for summable metrics like "Total Events," the Overall shows the sum of all segments. However, you can change this calculation by selecting a different measurement type.To show average values instead of sum in the Overall line: 1. In your Insights report, click on the measurement dropdown (it might currently show "Total" or "Unique Users") 2. Select "Aggregate Property" or "Aggregate Property per User" depending on your needs 3. Choose "Average" as the aggregation type 4. Select the property you want to averageThis will change your entire report to show averages instead of sums, including the Overall line. For more context, Mixpanel's comparison features allow you to see how segments perform relative to the overall value. When using "Compare to Overall," the percentages may not add up to 100% depending on the metric type. As explained in the documentation: > "If the metric is a non-counting metric like uniques or percentile aggregation, the percentages will not add up to 100%." Comparison: Time, Baseline and OverallThe calculation method for the Overall line is tied to the measurement type you select, so changing from a sum to an average requires changing the fundamental measurement of your report.
