Setting Up Hourly Alerts for Event Volume Dropping to Zero

·
·

I would like to set up an alert for event volume for a specific event going down to 0. I would like the volume to be checked hourly but only during the day (i.e. not a night when there is often no activity) - is there a way to do it?

Based on the information provided in the knowledge sources, I can partially answer your question about setting up an alert for event volume in Mixpanel. However, there are some limitations to what can be configured according to your specific requirements.Mixpanel does offer custom alerts for event volumes, which can be set up to notify you when an event count goes below a certain threshold. You can set this up as follows: 1. Navigate to your saved report for the specific event you want to monitor. 2. Click the 3 dots icon, go to Alerts, and select Create Alert. 3. In the alert creation modal, select "Custom Threshold" as the alert type. 4. Configure the conditions to alert you when the event count is "Below" and set the threshold to 0. 5. Choose the frequency for checking the alert condition. The most frequent option available is hourly.Custom AlertsHowever, there are some limitations to consider: 1. While you can set the alert to check hourly, there doesn't appear to be a built-in option to restrict the checking to only daytime hours. The alerts will run at the frequency you set, regardless of the time of day.2. The minimum checking frequency available is hourly. You cannot set it to check more frequently than that.3. There's no mention of the ability to set specific time windows for when the alert should be active or inactive. It's worth noting that Mixpanel also offers an Anomaly Detection feature for alerts, which automatically monitors your metrics and notifies you of significant anomalies. However, this feature is only available for certain types of reports and may not be suitable for your specific use case of monitoring when an event volume drops to zero.Anomaly DetectionIf you need more precise control over the alert timing or conditions, you might need to explore alternative solutions or contact Mixpanel support to see if there are any advanced configurations available that aren't mentioned in the public documentation.
