Creating Dynamic Metrics for Event Patterns in Dashboards

Is there a way to create metrics based on some event pattern? For example, show the number of events that happened for all events whose name starts with "Dashboard", or have the tag "Dashboard". If not, what is the best way to group these events automatically such that, if future event types are added to our data dictionary, the boards automatically track these metrics as well?

I have used custom events to achieve this (note the UI is different after the recent Mixpanel changes)

I've looked into this, but from what I've seen you can only add specific events manually. If I were to make a new event with a new event name, would that automatically get added to the custom event?

I see what you mean. Tags would then be the way to go. Tag all the properties you want to in the lexicon and then you'll be able to create a custom event using the tag

Is there a setting specifically for "All events with tag ___"? From what I see currently in the Create Custom Event modal, the tag just filters the events in the dropdown, but I can't add a setting for all events that have the tag (I can only add events one-by-one once they show up in the search result). Let me know if I'm missing something obvious
