Tracking Notification Impact on Mission Completion: Best Practices

I am trying to get tracking of our notification system. Here I have people "doing missions" after viewing a notification in the last 24 hours. People also regularly do missions without tapping on a notification but I don't know how I can connect these two events together. For example user A tapped a notification and then went ahead and did a mission in 24 hours. (I know I can do this in a stepped funnel report, and I am, but in that report I cannot comfortable view the missions names getting completed)
