Inquiry on Retroactively Merging Events in Simplified API Using $merge

I am currently using the Simplified API for my project and would like to know if it’s possible to retroactively merge events associated with a device ID to a specific Distinct ID / user ID using the $merge feature. Could you please confirm if this is available with the Simplified API, or if a different method is required? Thank you for your assistance.
