Hey, I want to create a funnel with Session Start (or Page View) that was really the first of User and want to filter it by specific URL or hostname. The "First time event" on the Page View does not work this way.

To create a funnel with a Session Start or Page View event that is truly the first for a user and filter it by a specific URL or hostname, you can use a combination of Mixpanel's First Time Filter and custom events. Here's how you can approach this:1. First, create a custom event that combines the Session Start event with the specific URL or hostname you're interested in. You can do this by: a. Expanding the Event dropdown in either an Insights, Funnels or Retention report. b. Selecting the plus button to the right of the search bar. c. Selecting the Session Start event and adding a filter for the specific URL or hostname. d. Naming your custom event and saving it. Custom Events provides more details on creating custom events.2. Once you have created this custom event, you can use it as the first step in your funnel.3. To ensure this is truly the first time for a user, you can add a First Time Filter to this custom event in your funnel. This will filter the event down to only the first instance performed by a user. As mentioned in the Analyzing First Time Users documentation: "You can do this by adding a First Time Filter to any event in Mixpanel. This filters the event down to only the first instance of the event performed by a user."4. Build the rest of your funnel as needed. This approach allows you to create a funnel that starts with the user's first Session Start or Page View on a specific URL or hostname. Note that this method is different from using the "First time event" on the Page View, which you've mentioned doesn't work for your use case. This custom approach gives you more control over defining what constitutes the "first time" for your specific needs.Remember that if you need to edit or delete your custom event later, you can do so in Lexicon.
