Excluding Referral Domains While Retaining Original Traffic Source

Hi, If I want to exclude referral domains e.g. account.google.com for signups or paypal.com for transactions is there some way to keep the original source (Referring Domain) of the traffic from the page where the Session started?

Yes, Mixpanel allows you to track the original source of traffic through the Initial Referrer and Initial Referring Domain properties. These properties are stored in the Mixpanel cookie the first time a user comes to your site and will not change on future site visits as long as the cookie is not cleared. This means that even if a user visits other domains during their session, the original source of traffic will still be preserved. Here's how it works: If a user comes to your site from www.google.com for the first time, then the initial referring domain is equal to www.google.com and the initial referrer is the URL that they first came from. This information will be stored in the Mixpanel cookie and sent with all future events. However, if you want to exclude certain referral domains from your tracking, you might need to customize your tracking code. Unfortunately, the provided knowledge sources do not contain specific information on how to achieve this. You might want to refer to Mixpanel's detailed documentation or reach out to their support for more specific guidance.Sources: - Initial Referrer and Initial Referring Domain Properties - Default Properties
