How to Retrieve a Deactivated Project Backup in Mixpanel

·
·

I accidentally reset the current project in Project Settings. I read in the documentation that Mixpanel stores a backup of the deactivated project. How can I retrieve it?

Based on the information provided in the knowledge sources, when you reset a project in Mixpanel, the system does create a backup of the deactivated project. However, the documentation doesn't specify a direct way for users to retrieve this backup themselves.According to the documentation: > A warning indicates this reset deactivates the project and all its data and project settings, then generates a new project. Mixpanel stores a backup of the deactivated project. Mixpanel will delete the data based on the data retention policy. Managing ProjectsThe data retention policy mentioned in another document states: > This policy includes projects that were deleted or reset through the Project Settings - deleting a project through the Project Settings triggers a soft deletion. The data in the deleted or reset project will remain stored in Mixpanel for 60-90 days, after which it will be hard deleted and unrecoverable. GDPR ComplianceSince there's no self-service option mentioned for retrieving this backup, you would likely need to contact Mixpanel's support team directly to request access to the backup of your reset project. The backup is maintained for 60-90 days before being permanently deleted according to their data retention policy. If you need to restore data from your previous project, you might also want to consider the backfilling options mentioned in the documentation for migrating historical data, though this would be for cases where you have access to the data through other means (like exports you may have made previously).
