To expand on my question from before: Is there are cross platform session event in the same way there is app session? I'm trying to calculate MAUs based on sessions.

Yes, Mixpanel does have a cross-platform session concept that can be used to calculate MAUs (Monthly Active Users) based on sessions. This is more flexible and comprehensive than the legacy $ae_session event which was specific to mobile apps.Mixpanel computes sessions automatically from the events you send, without requiring special tracking work on your end. These sessions consist of two virtual events: "Session Start" and "Session End" Sessions: Compute sessions based on existing event data. You can configure how sessions are computed in one of three ways:1. Timeout Based (Default): A session starts when a user performs any event and ends after a period of inactivity. 2. Event Based: You define specific starting and ending events. 3. Property Based: You provide a session_id property. These session computation methods work across platforms, allowing you to track user activity consistently whether it's on web, mobile, or any other platform you're tracking. To calculate MAUs based on sessions, you can use the "Session Start" event in your analysis. This event represents the beginning of each unique session across all platforms. You can create a report in Insights that counts unique users who have a "Session Start" event within a month-long period to get your MAU based on sessions. It's worth noting that Mixpanel automatically associates certain properties with session events, which can be useful for cross-platform analysis. These include properties like $os, $browser, $device, etc. Session Properties.By using this cross-platform session tracking, you can get a more accurate picture of your MAUs across all your platforms in a single Mixpanel project, following the best practice of combining tracking from multiple platforms Best Practices for Cross-Platform Tracking.
