What default property does mixpanel use to hold constant when creating a funnel?

Mixpanel does not automatically select a specific default property to hold constant when creating a funnel. Instead, holding a property constant is a manual configuration: you choose which event property (such as "Item Name" in an e-commerce funnel) should remain the same across all funnel steps for a user to be counted as a conversion. You can select up to three event properties to hold constant, but these must be properties that exist on all events in the funnel. There is no mention in the knowledge sources of a particular default property that Mixpanel uses for this purpose by default—you must specify it yourself when setting up the funnel report Hold Property Constant.

Mixpanel determines which users enter a funnel based on the first time they perform the event defined as Step 1 of the funnel, within the selected date range and according to the chosen counting method (Uniques, Totals, or Sessions). The user is identified by their distinct_id, and entry into the funnel is triggered by tracking the Step 1 event. If breakdowns or filters are applied, users may enter the funnel multiple times—once per segment or property value, depending on the configuration. If you are holding a property constant, the property value from the first Step 1 event (for "Uniques") or from each new entry (for "Totals" or "Sessions") is used to determine funnel entry for that property value. Users must then complete subsequent steps in the specified order and within the conversion window to be counted as conversions in the funnel Counting Methods and Measurements Breakdowns Hold Property Constant.
