Based on the information provided in the knowledge sources, I can explain Mixpanel's default data retention policy and why you might not see data from April and May 2023.By default, Mixpanel retains event data for 5 years. According to the GDPR Compliance documentation:"Events are automatically deleted after 5 years on an ongoing basis from all projects."Given this policy, data from April and May 2023 should still be available in your Mixpanel project, as it falls well within the 5-year retention period. However, there are a few reasons why you might not see this data:1. Data View settings: You might have a Data View applied that excludes this data. 2. Query caching: Depending on your query's date range, results might be cached for a certain period. You can refresh the data to ensure you're seeing the most current information. 3. Late data arrival: If the data was ingested significantly later than the event dates, it might take up to 24-48 hours to appear in your reports. To troubleshoot this issue, you could try:1. Checking your Data View settings to ensure no filters are excluding this data. 2. Refreshing your query results as described in the Query Result Caching documentation. 3. Verifying if the data was ingested correctly and when.If after these steps you still can't see your data from April and May 2023, it's recommended to contact Mixpanel support as this situation is not typical given the standard 5-year retention policy.

I understand your concern about the missing data from a few months ago. Based on the information provided in the knowledge sources, there are a few potential explanations for why you might not see this data now, even though it was available before and no one intentionally deleted it.1. Inactive Events: According to the Debugging documentation, Mixpanel's report dropdown menus hide events that have not been fired within the last 30 days. This is done to reduce clutter from events that are no longer firing. If the events you're looking for haven't occurred in the past 30 days, they might be hidden from the UI, but should still exist in your project's raw data.2. Data Sync Issues: The Schematized Export Pipeline documentation mentions that event data stored in Mixpanel's datastore and event data in the data warehouse can fall out of sync. This can be due to various reasons such as late data arrival or GDPR-related deletions. While Mixpanel has mechanisms to detect and sync these changes, it's not instantaneous and can take more than 2 days for the data to be fully in sync.3. Unintended Data Deletion: Although you mentioned that no one deleted the data, it's worth checking if any unintended data deletion occurred. The Data Clean-Up documentation explains that data deletion affects your entire project and can be used to remove subsets of events. If a data deletion was accidentally initiated, it becomes permanent after 7 days.To troubleshoot this issue:1. Check if the events are simply hidden due to inactivity. You can try searching for them by name in the dropdown menu. 2. Verify if any data deletion requests were made in the past few months by checking the Data Deletion section in Project Settings. 3. If the data is critical and you're certain it should be there, I recommend contacting Mixpanel support for further investigation, as they can provide more specific insights into your project's data.Remember, according to Mixpanel's standard data retention policy, event data should be retained for 5 years, so the disappearance of data from just a few months ago is not typical and warrants further investigation.
