Using Nested Properties in Insight Reports: How to Access Them

·
·

Hello Team, I have a question about nested properties. I am drafting a tracking plan where I would implement nested properties. I want to ask how nested properties are used in insight reports. How can I access them while creating reports. Thanks and looking forward to your response,

Hello,In Mixpanel, once a lookup table is mapped, you can access nested properties by simply clicking on the mapped property. It will expand the columns from the lookup table as if they are nested properties. Lookup table property names are derived from the header (1st row) in the CSV file; these labels cannot be renamed within the Mixpanel UI. These nested properties can be used like any normal property in reports as filters or breakdowns or even in custom properties [^1^].However, it's important to note that Mixpanel supports object (which can be used for nested properties) in a limited capacity. It's recommended to use the five non-object data types for most use cases as they are fully supported in the UI. Object properties are mainly supported in core reports (i.e., Insights, Funnels, Flows, Retention, Users / Cohorts, Events) as filters and breakdowns. Property Names (i.e., keys) within an object are not supported in Lexicon [^2^].I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.[^1^]: (https://docs.mixpanel.com/docs/data-structure/lookup-tables#how-do-i-use-a-lookup-table) [^2^]: (https://docs.mixpanel.com/docs/data-structure/property-reference/data-type#object)

kapa.ai is still learning and improving, please let me know how I did by reacting below.
