To correctly interpret the funnel window in Mixpanel, it's important to understand the concept of the Conversion Window. Here are the key points to consider: 1. Definition: The Conversion Window determines how much time a user has to complete all steps of the funnel after entering it.2. Default Setting: By default, users have 30 days to complete a funnel from the timestamp they perform the Step 1 event.3. Adjustability: You can adjust this conversion window by clicking on the words "30 days" in the conversion criteria. You can change both the unit of time and the amount.4. Maximum Duration: The maximum conversion window you can set is 366 days (or equivalent in months or weeks). For session-based conversion windows, the maximum is 1 session.5. Starting Point: The conversion window starts on the first instance of the Step 1 event per funnel entry. It's crucial to note that it will not be updated by later instances of the same event in the same funnel trial.6. Interpretation Example: Let's consider a funnel with steps A → B → C and a conversion window of one hour. If a user performs A at 1pm, A again at 1:30pm, B at 1:45pm, and C at 2:15pm, they would count as converting to B but not completing the entire funnel to C. This is because the time from the first A (1pm) to C (2:15pm) exceeds the one-hour window.7. Non-resetting Nature: The conversion window for a given funnel trial starts with the first instance of Step 1 and is not reset by later instances of Step 1 in the same trial.Understanding these aspects will help you correctly interpret and utilize the funnel window in Mixpanel for your analysis.Mixpanel Docs: Funnels - Conversion Window

So for example if the window used is 3 months, does this mean that the beginning of the window allows all all users within the specific date so lets date used for report is 1st Oct 2024 to 31 Dec 2024 within a window of 3 months kapa.ai

Based on the information provided in the knowledge sources, I can clarify how the 3-month conversion window would work in Mixpanel's funnel analysis. However, it's important to note that the specific example you've given with dates in 2024 is not directly addressed in the provided documentation. I'll explain the concept using the information we have: 1. Conversion Window: When you set a 3-month conversion window, it means that users have 3 months to complete all steps of the funnel after entering it (i.e., after performing the first step).2. Date Range vs. Conversion Window: The date range you select for your report (in your example, Oct 1, 2024 to Dec 31, 2024) is different from the conversion window. The date range determines which funnel entries to include in the analysis, while the conversion window determines how long each user has to complete the funnel.3. How it works: - Users who enter the funnel (perform the first step) at any point within your selected date range will be included in the analysis. - Each of these users then has 3 months from their individual entry point to complete the funnel. - This means that some conversions might occur outside your selected date range, but they'll still be counted if they happen within 3 months of the user's first step.4. Important note: The conversion window starts on the first instance of the Step 1 event for each user and is not updated by later instances of the same event in the same funnel trial.5. Calculation: Mixpanel computes cohorts dynamically at the time you run the query, so it's looking at users who are in the cohort as of the moment you run the report, not a rolling window of users who have ever been in the cohort. To directly address your question: If you set the date range from Oct 1, 2024 to Dec 31, 2024 with a 3-month conversion window, Mixpanel will: - Include all users who start the funnel (perform Step 1) between Oct 1 and Dec 31, 2024. - For each of these users, allow up to 3 months from their first step to complete the funnel. This means some conversions could be counted as late as March 31, 2025 (for users who entered the funnel on Dec 31, 2024).Remember, the exact implementation might have nuances not covered in the provided documentation, so it's always best to verify specific behaviors within your Mixpanel instance.Mixpanel Docs: Funnels - Conversion Window Mixpanel Docs: How Cohorts are Computed
