Setting Up Weekly Session Reports for Specific Users in Mixpanel

·
·

I want to get a weekly report of the total number of sessions for a specific user, how can I set this up? As far as I can find, when I set up an Alert in Mixpanel, I can set the Frequency to once a week, but I can't seem to set the value I'm tracking to the total number of sessions for a week...

To set up a weekly report of the total number of sessions for a specific user in Mixpanel, you can use a combination of Insights and Custom Alerts. Here's how you can approach this:1. First, create an Insights report that tracks the total number of sessions: - In Insights, select "Session Start" as your event. - Change the measurement from "Unique Users" to "Total Sessions" Insights Measurements. - Set the time range to "Last 7 days" or "This week" depending on your preference. - Apply a filter for the specific user you want to track.2. Save this Insights report.3. Now, set up a Custom Alert for this report: - Click the 3 dots icon, go to Alerts, and select Create Alert Alerts Overview. - Set the alert type to "Custom Threshold". - Set the frequency to weekly. - Configure the alert delivery settings (email or Slack). However, there's a limitation to be aware of. As you've noticed, Mixpanel's Custom Alerts are designed to notify you when a metric crosses a certain threshold, rather than sending a regular report of the actual value. To work around this, you could set a very low threshold (e.g., "above 0 sessions") to ensure you receive the alert every week. The alert will include the current value, which would be the total number of sessions for that week.If this doesn't fully meet your needs, you might want to consider these alternatives:1. Use Mixpanel's API to pull this data weekly and create your own custom report. 2. Use Mixpanel's data export features to regularly export your data and create custom reports outside of Mixpanel. 3. Reach out to Mixpanel support to inquire if there are any upcoming features or workarounds that might better suit your specific use case.Remember, the exact implementation might vary depending on your specific Mixpanel setup and the details of what you're trying to track.
