Creating a Funnel for Tracking Anonymous Blog Engagement Steps

·
·

how can I make a funnel that shows steps:

  • blog published with a blog id

  • blog read with blog id and user id

In the first event the user id is unknown or e.g. an admin from the blog. Why can't I make funnels for these kind of flows? Or how can I fix this?

In Mixpanel, funnels are designed to track a series of events performed by the same user. The user is identified by a unique ID, which is typically set when the user is identified in your application. If the user ID is unknown or not set in the first event (blog published), Mixpanel may not be able to link the two events (blog published and blog read) to the same user, which is why you might be having trouble creating a funnel for this flow. However, there are a few ways you might be able to work around this:1. Custom Events: You can create a custom event that combines multiple events into a single event. This could allow you to create a funnel that measures the sequence of a blog being published and then read. However, this would still require a way to link the two events to the same user. Learn more about creating custom events here.2. User Identification: If possible, you could modify your application to set a user ID when a blog is published. This could be a generic ID for an admin or the author of the blog. Then, when a user reads the blog, you could set the same user ID. This would allow Mixpanel to link the two events to the same user. Learn more about identifying users here.3. Property Attribution: Mixpanel allows you to hold a property constant in a funnel, which requires that a user retains the same value for a given event property for each step in order to convert. In your case, you could hold the 'blog id' property constant. Learn more about property attribution here.Remember, it's important to ensure that you're complying with all relevant privacy laws and regulations when tracking user behavior.
