The Mixpanel Community
This Summer we asked you all to tell us what you really think in an anonymous survey, and you did so it’s only right we share the results and what we’re going to do about it! You told us you want:Space for intermediate and advanced users to connect and be supported To learn in different ways More people and engagement to liven it up Community to be more visible as many of you didn’t know the Slack Community existed Faster responses to questions Improved search functionality Live events To match with groups of similar people Shared examples, templates and real use cases on how other teams use Mixpanel Space for folks to share amazing things they are doing with Mixpanel and wins So we will… 🌱 Grow the Community ChampionsAnswering questions will always be a part of community, to support this we will be on the lookout for more Community Champions and support enthusiastic beginners to gain more knowledge and help their peers. We’ll also highlight unanswered questions regularly as sometim
EDIT:Title shouldve just just “Cohort to track users becoming dormant’We have a custom event, made up of 4 events that users just need to just 1 of in a week to be considered a weekly active user. We’ve called this custom event “Engagement”.I used this custom event to then create a cohort of people that have done this event once in the last 30 days (they could do other things not included in this custom event) but excludes those that have signed up in the last 14 days.I constructed the cohort as in the screenshot here: What I’m trying to understand is why am I still seeing users in the cohort that have an “Updated’ at date for less than 14 days back. I was expecting to just see people who had shown up 2 weeks (and greater) in this list - its like the query is working for 95+% of what I want it to do What I’m trying to do is see just the people that:a. signed up in the last 30 days (ending 14 days ago)b. did the "Engagement” actions once between days 1-14ci. did not come back at all si
Hello friends!Posting here to share a recent project. It’s called Product Analytics Academy, and it offers a set of product analytics courses geared specifically for product roles. There’s no technical background needed and all the examples and exercises are taken directly from real-world scenarios so they prep you for your day to day job. For some background, I run Mentat Analtyics, a certified partner of Mixpanel which helps companies implement Mixpanel, build tracking plans, reporting, and more. Over the years I’ve noticed that many of the product managers (and other product roles) on my clients’ teams are lacking good fundamentals in product analytics, so I decided to address that. Hope you check them out! Would love to get your thoughts on them.
Genuinely, honestly, what do you think? This is a question I’m always asking of members as we always want to grow and evolve. Take a moment to give your opinion and advice anonymously here before 24 June. What did you tell us last year?We asked this question via a survey in May 2021 and have since used it to inform our decisions, changes and updates. Here are the uncut quotes:Seems like a lot of questions go unanswered. Links to docs get outdated. Old and irrelevant info. Create more content that help customers. Do virtual events. Promote how it can be useful for specific use cases via newsletters etc. - forgetting about it I think more content authored by the mixpanel team would be great. I especially enjoy the product manager video walk throughs Create a community where everyone (not only tech or implementers) will thrive I do not visit the community often, maybe an email digest about the latest and greatest might help me visit the community more often. Its a very good concept with lo

Hi everyone,I’m writing to let you know that as of June 25th, 2021, Mixpanel will no longer support its iOS App. This refers only to Mixpanel's mobile app itself, not Mixpanel's ability to track data and report on usage of other iOS apps. I wanted to provide some context on this decision, as well as a place to provide your feedback. Please read below for more details:Why is the App being Deprecated? We released the iOS app in late 2019 to provide mobile dashboards for our customers. While the app was successful in this goal, adoption, unfortunately, has remained low. Meanwhile, we've been slowly updating all of our charts in preparation for a refreshed dashboard experience on mixpanel.com. The app is now out of date due to these changes, resulting in a poor experience. Ultimately, we want to focus our efforts on areas that will deliver far more value to you, like the aforementioned dashboards refresh, hence our decision to discontinue our support for the app.How does this affect m

Mixpanel is showing strange behaviour I have compared my database, mixpanel and google analytics counts side by side.Interestingly sum of all 3 after 20 days shows less difference. But when compared day by day the difference between my database and google analytics is ignorable. But mixpanels sometimes shows 50 plus or 50 minus difference but sum of 20 days is almost the same as of mixpanel and google analytics. Also when I see an events count in Insights it is different as compared to when the same even is compared with only one event in Funnel. It is also showing inaccurate session counts as well.

Hi Mixpanel Community, We’re pleased to announce 3 new updates:Live View is now Events: As of today, you can query any event in your entire project’s history using any combination of properties and inspect the details for debugging and QA purposes. View Events from Insights: Similar to “View Users”, you can now click on a chart segment (bar, line) in Insights and view the raw events that made up that metric. View Sample Events: If you’ve ever wanted to see a few samples of an event to help you decide whether that’s the right event you want for analysis or which property you should use for filters/breakdowns, this is for you. You can hover over any event and in the context panel, you now have the ability to “View Sample Events”, which redirects you to the Events page with 100 most recent samples of that hovered event. If you’d like to learn more, please read the docs (Live View → Events, View events + View samples) and/or watch this short video: Please let us know if you have any ques
Last month we held a number of meetups and some folks shared that they are hoping to get started in tech and product and asked us to share our best advice. I won’t share the gems that were shared on that call here but I did ask a few Mixpanelers who have answered below.I would love you to share in the comments what your advice is?AK’s advice“Have a beginner’s mind… for everything” …. we (only) really learn stuff when we make mistakes, recognize them as mistakes, do some research, and then (and only then) fix/solve/redo the work to make it correct. in my mind, true learning is the iterative process of doing this over and overthe reason adopting a beginner’s mind is important in tech is because it combats the frustration inherent in building things… you’ll build something 100 times before you get it right… and even when it’s “right”… it’s only “right today”… and tomorrow, everything can change.this is either a drag … or a boon depending on your mindset. Beginner’s mind (shosin) is a conc
