What are best practices when dealing with undefined tracked traffic?

Over 50% of my high value users are coming from an undefined utm medium.

I know this can mean that they are coming to the website directly via word of mouth etc. and cannot be tracked, but I’m curious to see if you guys have best practices in turning this into actionable data.

Hey,

I tried to resolved this with a custom script. It need some update if you want to use it (search swapcard.com)

Once you have the getVisitorSource you can set a register_once() for first touch and register() for last touch attribution.

I know, it does not resolve 100% your issue. I get the same issue where 40% of my trafic is Direct. I ended up by adding a question on sign-up to learn how they discovered my company.
