Hi - Hoping someone can help! We are running ad install campaigns on Facebook, Twitter, Google Ads, Apple Ads, etc and would like to know if there’s a way to capture (in Mixpanel) users that installed the app via coming through an ad install campaign. This will enable us to tie installs to conversions.
We do have Branch (our attribution tool) but for some reason, the data is not measuring up. We can see, as an example, Twitter showing 400 clicks on our link but Branch is only showing 20 clicks and no installs.
So wanted to see if there was a way to capture it directly in MixPanel? Does anyone have any recommendations on how to do this? Or have any ideas that can help?

Jumping right into your question here, due to the current mobile ecosystem, Mixpanel can track some, but not all sources of mobile attribution. Long story short, Android allows you to find the direct referrer (i.e. who sent the user to download the app), but Google, Facebook, Twitter, and iOS really hold onto their attribution data and do not allow certain third-party tracking services like Mixpanel to access this data directly.
That being said, 3rd party attribution companies such as Branch can be used with Mixpanel as work around. They can take the attribution data and beam it back to the client device. From there, the developer can choose to send that data to Mixpanel. You can find more information about Branch's integration with Mixpanel here.
