What are best practices for having users explicitly opt-in to Mixpanel tracking, especially for iOS and Android mobile apps?
The Apple developer agreement has this language:
You and Your Applications (and any third party with whom You have contracted to serve
advertising) may not collect user or device data without prior user consent, whether such data is
obtained directly from the user or through the use of the Apple Software, Apple Services, or Apple
SDKs, and then only to provide a service or function that is directly relevant to the use of the
Does this mean that unless we have an explicit user opt-in for Mixpanel tracking, technically we would be in violation of this agreement? We can certainly build this opt-in feature into our product, but it's another thing to add to our long feature backlog.
We disabled user tracking from our mobile apps for the time being until we have this sorted out.
