Mobile and Web event tracking best practices?

New to Mixpanel and just designing how we are using the platform.

We have an identical web/mobile platform and if I look at tracking customers adding funds to their account - do I track the event as a web-fund-account and/or mobile-fund-account, or just fund-account and track which device they are logging in from. We do have iOS/Android native apps, so not a single platform. And this is one of 50 events we are planning to track.

I've searched around the site and completed the implementation training courses (which are great), but I don't see any best practices for handling this.

Hey @iainclarke! Our company tracks events that are important to our metrics on IOS and our Web app due to our customers being able to move between platforms. Sometimes we have customers who may look at products on web, and then decided to purchase on our IOS app(or the other way around).

With this in mind, our company decided to track events that are important to our metrics on both platforms. We also send both IOS and Web data into one project to be able to compare metrics. I think creating a tracking plan for each platform might be useful to help decided what events are important to track on each platform. Their tracking plan is very helpful for this https://help.mixpanel.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000857366-Plan-Your-Implementation#create-a-tracking-plan. Also, here is an article that helped us decided to track each platform in one project https://help.mixpanel.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004491683-When-To-Use-Multiple-Projects. Hope this helps!

Thanks Shawn. I have completed the tracking plan, which raised the question. The second link is exactly what I'm looking for.
