Question

Error when init mixpanel Ionic 4

I am developing an ionic 4 app with Capacitor.

I intend to use mixpanel.

But when init the service:

this.mixpanel.init(mytoken)

I'm catching this error in native device (Android 9):

Default FirebaseApp is not initialized in this process com.catalogo.syngenta. Make sure to call FirebaseApp.initializeApp(Context) first.

Why????

What is the relationship between mixpanel and firebase so that when starting mixpanel it throws me this error?

Best Rgs.

Diego

Hi Diego,

I saw that you are working with our Support team on this, but for anyone else coming across this ticket please consider the following:

We currently don't have an official SDK/support for Ionic. Our supported mobile SDKs are iOS (Swift and Objective-C) and Android (Java).
If you are using a third-party library not managed by Mixpanel, we are limited in the help we can provide here.

With that in mind, Mixpanel does leverage Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for Android Push Notifications.
If the third-party library wraps around our official Android SDK, there was a similar issue about FCM initialization that was fixed on our Android SDK v.5.6.7: https://github.com/mixpanel/mixpanel-android/issues/608
The first step is to upgrade  to at least v.5.6.7+ to see if it resolves your issue: https://github.com/mixpanel/mixpanel-android/releases
