Hey there!

I was wondering if there is any functionality to bring historic data into Mixpanel that would allow a business to do some basic trend analysis, retention analysis, etc ahead of being fully onboarded and a paying user?

Your help is much appreicated!

Thanks :)

you can import old events into Mixpanel by using their /import endpoint.

I found details on how to import old events here on their help docs here, and also on their dev docs here.

I use the api module a lot. I wrote a step by step guide here to do an event export via python, but you can also use it to do a import if you change the calls from m.export_events() to m.import_events(). - Mixpanel's api module to reference to https://github.com/mixpanel/mixpanel_api#import-events

If you want to try it out or exports in the future, here is my old post https://community.mixpanel.com/strategy-and-planning-9/is-it-possible-to-export-events-list-by-users-3475

With the API you can upload historic data. Events and people can be created.
