Hi,I have a question regarding cohorts.I’m wondering if my thought process is correct regarding matching numbers. I visualised a cohort over time (12 month period) on a monthly basis. By doing that I see how many of my users were in a cohort we named“Viewers” during each month right. I tried using a cohort of all my users and then break down by another cohort, “Viewers” again, to see how they and another cohort performed during the 12 months. Shouldn’t this step show the same number month by month for Viewers as in the way I did in step 1? I tried checking a cohort of how many users there are within a month and still the numbers doesn’t match at all, theres a diff o a couple of hundred users. Why is there a diff? shouldn’t each way of looking at it, be it how I did in 1, 2 ,3 show the same numbers? Would highly appreciate if someone could help me understanding this. Thanks in advance=))
A bit of context for my (possibly weird) question..My app is deployed to a fixed number of tablets in a hospital setting. I’m trying to measure how much time they’re offline. I have events for ‘Device Online’ and ‘Device Offline’. ‘Device Offline’ fires when the backend hasn’t heard a heartbeat from the patient device in 20min. ‘Device Online’ fires when a heartbeat from an offline device fires. ‘Device Online’ has a ‘timeSinceOffline’ property which is. how many seconds had passed since the device record was last updated. I would like to be able to see on a daily basis how many total hours devices are offline. So if a device goes offline on a Monday at 11:59pm and comes back on a Wednesday at 12:01am (a legitimate scenario where the patient in a room isn’t an appropriate fit for the app) the Tuesday should show 24 hours. I’ve set the project’s session start / end to these events but don’t believe it’s working as specified.
Cohort analysis on users that are active their first 30 days - by time spent / sessions / days logged in
Hi, I am doing a cohort analysis and a few insight reports, where I am interested in understanding the users that exhibit some specific types of behaviour in their first 30 days. (I have 3 main distribution breakdowns; how many sessions did they have, how much time spent, and how many distinct days did they work in the software. For this I suspect I need to use Cohorts and or Custom Properties.I am primarily interested in how to organize/filter users individually by their First Seen date and until 30 days past this. Tried doing Cohorts where First seen is a given month AND various criteria e.g. logged in 6 days or more. But this works well only if users sign up at the beginning of the month only, as subscriptions start on any day.
Hi Mixpanel Community,I am building a retention report and am curious about Best Practices for choosing Event A. I’ve seen that “Signup” is typically used for Event A. However, as of now we are in private beta and have very few users ~70 and so the number of signups in any week is not very high. I wanted to explore the alternative - to use “Any Event” in the A event, which tells me the length of time a user who did any event sticks around. My question is - is there anything wrong with using “Any Event” in A. Does it over inflate retention numbers and make them look better than they are? This is the retention with Sign up as Event A And this is the retention with “Any event” as event A
When trying to create a cohort of users based on a specific value of a property, the specific property is not listed for some reason, while in other sections it is (screen shot attached). What could be the explanation for the differences in property search between the different sections in Mixpanel. Ultimately, I’m looking to create a cohort of users where a certain feature flag (property: feature_flags) includes that value “newOnboarding”. Thank you so much in advance!
I am currently trying to track the average session length on my application. I’ve set up a 2 step funnelStep 1: Session Start Step 2: Session End My expectation is that this will show the average time a user spends on the application both for Desktop & Mobile.. That if a user logs in and is active for 6 minutes, but then does nothing for 30 minutes (session timeout) that it will show their time to conversion being 6 minutes. It should show the average time from when user has started to use the application and not the period (ex 7 days) i have selected. I would like to know the Average session time for the individual user.
Mixpanel has a “first-time filter,” which is very helpful for analyzing the very first time a user performs a specific event. However, does anybody know how to analyze the second, third, fourth, fifth, etc. time a user performs a specific event? For example, I am interested in analyzing the first seven times a user submits our daily check-in (a series of questions users must answer every time they open the app) that we track with an event, submit_daily_check_in. I want to know what users are doing after each check in event and if it changes after the first, second, third, etc. time that they perform it. The only solution I can think of is creating a custom property that stores the sequential numbering of the event (1 is stored for the first time, 2 is stored for the second time, etc.), but I was curious if anybody else has a similar use case or need for a Mixpanel functionality like this and what work around they’ve come up with. Thanks!
A really simple usecase, for some reason not able to see the relavent filters.I have a event called “Install Attributed” which has an event parameter called campaign source.Under user property, I have the revenue for every user.I just want to make a Insights report with the revenue bought in from each campaign source. This means a User property on the Y-axis and a breakdown of event property on the X-axis.For some reason, when I’m trying to put Revenue in the Metric, I can’t break it down using Event properties as they don’t show up in the search. Not sure why?Can someone help. Is there another way to do it?TIA
Hi there!I love Mixpanel but its kinda hard to get it setup At least as a solo developer… QQ about my reports into “Control Panel” dashboard:- Users w/ 5+ servers: How can I get this to work? I browser under “Server Added”/Add Filter but didn’t see any counter to filter out 5 servers.- Recently registered users: I would like to order them by time, the latest on the top. Even when clicking on the arrow under column “Time” nothing happens. Another one:- User: All my users are registered as from London, which is not the case. How can I fix that? Thanks for the help! Cheers, Leo
Hello! I have been using Mixpanel for a while, but I am still very confused on the difference between UTM Medium, UTM Medium [First Touch], and UTM Medium [Last Touch]. I understand that UTM Medium [First Touch] and UTM Medium [Last Touch] are user properties where First Touch means the first source that brought a user to the site and Last Touch means the last source that brought a user to the site. But then I am confused as to what just UTM Medium is, as it does not seem to be a user property but also doesn’t seem to combine the data from First Touch and Last Touch either. For example, when I look at Sign Ups on our site, UTM Medium shows 9, UTM Medium [First Touch] shows 5, and UTM Medium [Last Touch] shows 0. If anyone could clarify this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much!
I use custom event to split one raw event into multiple variety of custom, but if I use these custom events on flow report, the raw event also present along with it custom events. It makes the report being redundant. Is there a way to filter out raw event and only show the custom event ones in flow report, I can’t used the expand by property because the custom event aren't defined by a single property and its value, but rather defined with more complex combination of property and condition.
I would like to create a full user profile properties with additional fields. For example, as a customer support I would like to know how many products have been purchased by this user or which products purchased by this user and then present it in each user profile. As far as I’ve seen there is only an option to add a user property manually specifically for each user, however I would like that the property will be updated for all users’ profile.
I create a funnel consisting of 2 steps. The 2nd step has 7 comparison events. The problem is that for the first step, the counts are different for each column, even though presumably those columns are there not because they are separate actions (after all, there’s only one action in step 1), and I thought the first step (Page View) is separated into columns to make it visually easier to track between different steps. However, as you can see in the screenshot, they have different counts such as 135, 132, 160, and so on.Why is that? When I switch to uniques, the columns get similar, but this time the counts in the 2nd step don’t add up to what the columns show (screenshot below). How can interpret these numbers? And what to do to get same counts for first steps (screenshot above)?
We have an event called “Page View” and another event called “Referred to Partner Site”We have a Homepage and we have various content pages.A user may convert (trigger the “Refer to Partner Site”) on either the Homepage or one of the content pages deeper in the site If we are using a Flow Report broken down by pages, are the Homepage and Content Page flows exclusive? Does the content page conversion overlap with conversion rates for the homepage (for a user who went through homepage and converted at a content page?)
We have some events sent from web and some events from our backend server, since those events are coming from different source it is impossible for them to share the same user ID (we use temporary user ID), but instead they have the same transaction ID, is it possible create funnel report by using other ID (instead of user ID) as the join key, we want to bind all of these events into one funnel report *put transaction ID under property hold constant setup doesn't help
