Can I save a formula as a metric?

Firstly, I love data too :) Secondly, just to clarify: when you say “formula” do you refer to the functionality in our Insights report as shown below:

If yes, then there is no way to save this unless you keep it in a “template” report that you use a base for your future analysis. So every time you need that specific formula, you edit the template and hit “Save as new” so you never modify your actual template. 

Would that be an acceptable workaround?
